Test teams have traditionally used document templates to communicate the test strategy and coverage for releases. However, these documents are rarely reviewed by project team members other than testers. Using the technique of mind maps, test teams can effectively initiate discussions with the business and development team members to establish testing priority and coverage and to ensure that all project team members understand and are involved in the testing strategy.

Mush Honda, QA Director at KMS Technology, a provider of IT services across the software development lifecycle, will give a presentation on “Applying Mind Maps for an Efficient Testing Team” at the Quality Engineered Software & Testing (QUEST) Conference on April 24, 2015 in Atlanta, GA.

In his presentation, Mush will discuss how mind maps can be leveraged to visually document key business workflows and features for test coverage, reinforce domain expertise and business concepts with distributed teams, establish test prioritization and coverage per sprint/release, and report testing progress.

Some key points in the presentation:

  • How to visually define a test strategy & prioritize/communicate testing coverage (and identify gaps)
  • How to visually document key business workflows & features from existing manual tests for automation candidates
  • How to reinforce domain expertise and business concepts with distributed teams

“I’m very excited to participate in QUEST 2015. It is such a great opportunity for me to learn and connect with many fellow QAs in the world. Moreover, it is also a good place for me to share my knowledge and contribute to the community,” said Mush Honda, QA Director at KMS Technology.
